NeoGraft Automated Hair Restoration Machine With our automated device the time required for the surgery is less than half the time of the standard transplant procedure. This allows the grafts to remain more robust for transplantation. Furthermore, with traditional hand transplants, using the FUE method, the follicle is cut with a hollow tube instrument and pulled out by a tweezers like instrument. How successfully the hair follicle is pulled out, without being damaged, depends on the skill of the technician. Using our device, the follicles are removed with gentle pneumatic pressure, so there is less risk of damaging the follicle, or driving the follicle further into the skin, as sometimes happens in traditional surgery. The risk with this is an abscess. The technician controls the pressure with our device and the pressure is set to each individual’s type of scalp. Some people have a very tight scalp, other’s a lax scalp. Some individual’s follicles are deeper, and more firmly anchored than other people’s. With the regular transplant procedure these differences may requires more tugging and pulling on the follicle by the technician increasing the chances of damaging the follicle. With our machine, the pneumatic pressure is set to the type of scalp and the instruments apply just the right amount of pressure to remove the follicle. Follicles grow at an angle and some individual’s are more angled than others. Our machine has an angled instrument to allow the technician to remove the follicle without cutting through the follicle. Another problem with the standard way of doing hair transplants is that the follicles are inserted into the bald area with instruments that push the follicle into the slit. How well this is done also depends on the skill of the technician. An unskilled technician can damage the hair bulb and that follicle will never grow. Our device uses pneumatic pressure to insert the follicles into the slits. With our automated device, the pressure used to insert the follicle is adjusted for each person’s type of skin. The pressure is adjusted by taking into consideration the thickness of the scalp, or tightness of the skin, which differs for each individual. With our device you are not as dependent on the skill of the technician, which if not good can damage a high percent of the hair follicles. The transplanted hair will remain visible for two or three weeks and then the new transplanted hair will fall out. The bulb of the hair remains dormant under the skin for six to twelve weeks. After that time a new hair will grow from the bulb. Significant hair will grow in by 4-6 months and full hair growth is visible by 9 to 12 months. During the entire procedure the patient will be alert; watching TV and chatting with the doctor and staff. Using the standard hair transplant Strip method, 2000 follicles take about 6-8 hours to transplant. With the standard FUE method transplants take longer. Many technicians are needed to assist during the transplant. Our device eliminates the need for so many technicians and therefore cuts out the cost of those technicians. The time of the transplant is reduced by more than half, which also reduces the cost. The patient may eat or drink and get up during the procedure. Most patients doze off and on during this time or watch T.V. When the hair transplant has been completed the patient will be provided with post-operative instructions, medicines and shampoo. They can leave the office with a little or no bandage and will be able to shampoo their hair the next day.
Above is a picture of a shaved scalp. The individual follicular units of hair can be seen to grow naturally in groups of one to four hairs in each pore. These groupings of hair are called follicular bundles or follicular units and can be seen with the unaided eye by closely examining the scalp.
FUE Technique Below is a picture showing the harvesting of the follicular unit with our device using the FUE procedure. Our device takes less than half the time than when done in the traditional way by hand. The traditional way also requires double or more the amount of technicians. The device has an instrument that is attached to a bottle that receives the grafts. The graft is suctioned out into the bottle at the same time as the punch is made. The device then pushes the graft gently with pneumatic pressure into the slit. One person alone can insert about 500-700 grafts in one hour. Or 500-700 grafts in one half an hour with an assistant. Notice in the picture below there is only one assistant helping with the transplant and not the usual 4-6 assistants used by doctors who do the transplant without our device.
Grafts - FUE Method Below is an example of the grafts taken with the device. Notice the excellent quality of the grafts.
